NEW LOCATIONS FOR 2007 U OF O WINTER GAMES
The Winter Games must go on! Due to changing temperatures resulting in low ice levels, some 2007 University of Okoboji Winter Games events will be moving from West Lake Okoboji to various locations throughout the area. Snowball Softball will be held at the Milford Memorial Softball Complex and the Lakes Area Hockey Shoot-Out will be taking place at the YMCA in Spirit Lake. University of Okoboji Broomball will be held in the lot south of Shaw Paint, Glass and Locksmithing. All other events will occur as scheduled. Spas on Ice, the Polar Bear Plunge and all kid's events will take place at Okoboji Boat Works. The Snowmobile Radar Run and the Little Sioux OHV/ATV Ice Challenge will take place on the ice, as will the Golf Ball Long Drive Contest.
Winter Games clothing will be available for sale Friday night at the RE/MAX Chili Cook-Off and throughout the weekend at the Okoboji Spirit Center located in the Maritime Museum.
Those participating in the Winter Games are encouraged not to drive vehicles on either lake. Parking will be available at Emerald Hills Golf Club, Arnolds Park Amusement Park parking lot and the state boat ramp across from Kum & Go in Okoboji, with the RIDES shuttle service providing transportation throughout the area for the duration of the weekend at a cost of 75 cents. Additional sites will be included along the shuttle route and will be marked with signs designating them as a shuttle stop.
