IOWA GREAT LAKES AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
IOWA GREAT LAKES AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MISSION STATEMENT: The purpose of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is to promote the business, civic, tourism and agricultural interests of our members and area residents, and to further the development and protection of all our resources.
The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is known throughout the area as “The Chamber.” The Chamber office is housed in Arnolds Park and serves its members who are primarily located in Spirit Lake, Arnolds Park, Okoboji and Milford. There are over 400 members in The Chamber, which is governed by a twenty member Board of Directors.
Programs offered by The Chamber include: University of Okoboji Winter Games, Great Okoboji Lakes Finale tournament, Walleye Weekend (fundraiser for Easter Seals of Iowa), Business After Five and the Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza. Many of the opportunities for volunteerism are met by the Iowa Navy Commodores, who are the ambassadors for The Chamber. The Commodores greet and welcome new businesses to the community, perform ribbon cuttings and readily promote the Okoboji area.
Member involvement is encouraged in all Chamber programs. Chamber personnel are also involved in community betterment by actively serving in several local, regional and state organizations.
OKOBOJI TOURISM COMMITTEE
The Okoboji Tourism Committee is a committee of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. The committee consists of sixteen board members made up of eight lodging facility owners and eight non-lodging facility owners, Tourism Director and Tourism Associate. The Okoboji Tourism Committee was formed to manage the marketing efforts for the Iowa Great Lakes Area, which includes producing the award-winning Vacation Okoboji magazine. The mission of the Okoboji Tourism Committee is “To responsibly promote the Iowa Great Lakes Area to potential and returning visitors.”
SPIRIT LAKE MAINSAIL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The Spirit Lake Mainsail Chamber of Commerce is a division of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and was formed to promote the specific interests of the Spirit Lake community.
The Mainsail Board of Directors is comprised of up to twenty members who meet bimonthly to coordinate activities of its major committees. The Spirit Lake Mainsail Chamber of Commerce's mission is to Promote Business, Enhance Community.
