Every summer, audiences look forward to the debut of the Okoboji Summer Theatre.  For 54 years, students and faculty from Stephens College in Columbia, MO, have been managing, producing and starring in the theatre's productions.  Nine shows run throughout the all-too-short season, and include Broadway hits, thought-provoking dramas, entertaining musicals and lively comedies.

Theatre-goers should call in advance for tickets, as productions tend to sell out quickly.  This talented troupe also puts on special summer productions for children in the Boji Bantam Children's Theare.  Please call the ticket office at 712-332-7773 for a compete list of plays, dates and times.

Visitors to the Pearson Lakes Art Center can enjoy viewing works in the gallery's permanent, traveling collections or exhibits by guest artists.  The Pearson Lakes Art Center also contains the Lauridsen Performing Arts Theatre, the Pomerantz Multipurpose Hall and educational interactive art gallery called ART SMART.  There is a gift gallery, library and art classes for all ages and skill levels.  In the summertime, the Pearson Lakes Art Center hosts classic and foreign film services and Art in the Park, a juried art fair featuring the work of local and regional artists.  The Pearson Lakes Art Center is on Highway 71 in north Okoboji and is free to the public throughout the year.  For gallery hours and specific event times, call 712-332-7013.



 

Treasure Village Children's Theatre and Mini Golf open

For over 35 years, Treasure Village Children's Theatre and Mini-Golf has provided family entertainment in the Lakes Area.  The Children's Theatre will present audience participation fairy tales for all ages.  The plays are performed by young adults actors on Tuesday through Saturday mornings at 10:30 AM from mid-June through mid-August.  Play mini-golf on the Lakes area's only 27-hole course and enjoy an old-fashioned hand-dipped ice cream cone.  Listen to a wide variety of music at Gospel Concerts on Sunday evenings at 8 PM from mid-June through late August.  Find hidden treasures at antique flea markets held on the three holiday weekends during the summer.  For more information, visit www.treasurevillage.org or call 712-337-3730.
