Fall Family Frolic

The Fall Family Frolic is a great event for people of all ages to learn about our prairies, past, present and future. Visitors can collect prairie plant seeds and scatter them, extending our restored prairie at Kenue Park. They may also take seeds gathered with them to use to restore other areas. There will be several presentations throughout the day including, “Prairie Past: From the Eyes of a Pioneer/ Settler of the Prairie,” “Prairie Present: Hike & Talk through our Prairie and Seed Collection,” and “Prairie Future: IDOT/ The Iowa Living Roadway Trust Fund Documentary – Tallgrass Prairie Revival.” There will also be several activities for children and refreshments will be served. In addition to the activities and presentations, the Dickinson County Nature Center will showcase several new displays about prairie life, Dickinson County’s glacial landmarks, tools from pioneer days, and low impact development. The Fall Family Frolic is free of charge and all are welcome to come enjoy YOUR Nature Center!
